hurricane Lorenzo blows in
Crusheen, County Clare, Ireland
This morning I listened and watched the intro to Lorenzo. Clouds were ushered in by the wind, the trees joined and began swaying in rhythm, solo leaves and groupings periodically appeared making their decent by twirling freely to their own beat, occasionally a flock of birds joined. The sound fluctuated in frequency and tone lead by the wind, accompanied by chirping birds, barking dogs and bellowing cows. The performance was very magical. I thought it would be beautiful to capture the twirling leaves. What I creatively imagined as a beautiful picture quickly became an extremely fast pace game of chase. The game required me to wait for the leaves descent, predict a path, maneuver into position, adjust for distance, focus, and shoot before the two second clock sounded. Soon I was laughing, stomping my foot at the leaves, and spinning in circles - all great fun. I don’t know why I didn’t consider a video. Anyway, my defeat was quickly evident. Thankfully, the game ended. I was ejected by the rain. To my surprise, the grandest consolation prize awaited inside ~ two leaves perfectly placed waiting to be photographed. I accepted it with great joy.I love Mother Nature, even on her bad days she makes me smile.
