inner peace

“True and lasting inner peace can never be found in external things. It can only be found within. And then, once we find and nurture it within ourselves, it radiates outward.” ~Buddha

Inner peace has brought my heart, mind, and body into harmony. Amazingly it ushered in profound acceptance, forgiveness, love, and compassion. It connected me back to my true nature, my soul.

Throughout my life, I experienced fleeting moments of internal calmness but for decades I lived in a state of fear and anxiety. Externally I appeared peaceful but internally I was a hot mess. It wasn’t until I lost my will to live that I surrendered to something larger than myself and peace flooded me. At that moment, I committed to never allow it to slip away. Today, my internal state of peace has become my navigation system. For I know that when I am at peace internally my world flows beautifully regardless of the circumstances. With my internal world balanced, I can live in the moment from my heart center. Now, each time I feel a slight conflict within, I take time to go inward to identity what within me is causing the discord. I happily dive into my inner work understanding that the discord is simply a messenger bringing my attention to something within me that needs healing.

My pathway to inner peace continues to be one of healing, self-acceptance, and unconditional self-love. I understand now that inner peace is not a destination rather a way of life, a way to allow my soul to evolve, and a way to experience the richness of life.
