The Shape-Shifter
The concept of shape-shifting has been coming into my field frequently. A shape-shifter is often depicted as a mythical creature or a character with the ability to transform their physical form into that of another animal or object. However, in a metaphorical sense, a modern-day shape-shifter could refer to someone who is adaptable and versatile, able to change their behavior, thoughts, or appearance to fit different situations and contexts. This could apply to someone who is skilled at adjusting their communication style to suit different audiences, or someone who is able to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies or work environments. Essentially, a modern-day shape-shifter is someone who is flexible, versatile, and able to thrive in a constantly changing world. Ladies, I feel this is us.
As women, we are often expected to play multiple roles and fulfill various responsibilities simultaneously, which can be seen as a form of shape-shifting. We often need to adjust our behavior and appearance to fit different social contexts, such as professional settings, family gatherings, or social events. We also need to balance different roles, such as being a mother, partner, and professional, and adjust our priorities and behaviors accordingly. Additionally, we face gender expectations and stereotypes we must navigate, which can require us to modify our behavior and communication style in order to be taken seriously or respected.
Moreover, we have historically faced systemic barriers and discrimination in various aspects of our lives, such as education, employment, and politics. As a result, we have had to adapt and change in order to succeed in these fields, requiring us to modify our behavior, mindset, or even our physical appearance.
In essence, as women we are continually shape-shifting by adapting to changing social contexts, fulfilling multiple roles and responsibilities, breaking through gendered barriers and expectations, and finding ways to succeed in a society that is often stacked against us.
I feel we have lost the sacred connection of shape-shifting. As we adjust our behavior and appearance to fit different contexts we are losing our individual unique perspective, strengths, and weaknesses. Has our mastery of shape-shifting disconnected us from our core essence? Do we even truly remember our core identity?
I feel it is time for us to remove our cloaks and reveal our true essence. It is time to utilize our mastery of alchemy to create a world that adapts to our heart’s desires. It is time to return to who we are in truth. It is time to return to our divine feminine essence. It is time for The Sacred Rebirth.
